Ocosingo, les ruines Tonina

Monday, May 10, 2010

One night still very hot, the bus with AC enchants us. We take the first bus that cost us 55 pesos pp Palenque in Ocosingo. ADO with the company, was twice the price.

The bus is slow and empty to our surprise. Once Ocosingo, we seek a room. It is something without really looking at 120 pesos for two with private bath.

In Ocosingo, we seek the office of info, but it is closed. The police give us the info, the site museum is open today and every day. It asks the same question to another person, who also responds that the museum is open today. It was decided So visit the site today rather than wait for tomorrow. (We later learned that ALL Mexican museums are closed on Monday without exception).

We swallow a quarter of a delicious chicken with rice for 14 pesos. We take a collectivo to the ruins at 10 pesos per person for 14km. Once on the site, the entrance is 41 pesos pp. (There is still a price posted for video cameras from 41 pesos more, we avoid)

Few details about the site, the museum might be interesting! What is different here is that the site is doing everything in height. The visit takes little time, but the site is interesting in its difference. Back to Ocosingo, a little disappointed to have missed the museum. We resume the chicken for dinner, it is really delicious and at a price defying any competition! 45 pesos for the whole chicken served with rice. Can be completed with tortillas to 10 pesos per kilo.
